Non-Profits We Work with That Are Changing the World

This Giving Tuesday, we want to highlight the amazing non-profits we have worked with in 2019 that are changing the world for the better.

Animal Rescue - Second Chance Rescue NYC

Our first Brooklyn Dog Art Run was not only an animated, heart-warming affair, but half the ticket proceeds went to benefit Second Chance Rescue NYC. Second Chance Rescue NYC works to reduce animal overpopulation in shelters, rescue and rehabilitate critically injured and neglected animals and connect the community to services that enable animals to remain in their homes. We were happy to help their mission with ticket sales. And our star guest of honor was the adorable canine Marky Mark, one of the adoptable pups from Second Chance Rescue NYC, who ran with us on the run.

Mental Health - This Is My Brave

Mental health is an issue we are passionate about at Runstreet and we were honored to partner with our favorite fitness motivator Lauren Chiiarello of Chi Chi Life for Pilates + Art Run in Central Park to benefit This Is My Brave. This is My Brave works to bring stories of mental illness and addiction out of the shadows and into the spotlight. Runstreet founder Marnie has written about her own challenges with anxiety and depression in past posts, and we were happy to bring the mental health benefits of Art Runs and movement to others as well as donate ticket sales to This Is My Brave.

LGBTQ Health - Callen Lorde Community Health Center

LGBTQ rights is another issue that Runstreet strongly supports, and we donated half of ticket proceeds from our annual NYC Pride Art Run to Callen-Lorde Community Health Center. Callen-Lorde provides sensitive, quality healthcare and related services targeted to New York's lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities. We are pleased to see them growing, as Callen-Lorde expands beyond Chelsea and prepares to open its doors at a second location, in Brooklyn.

Immigrant Rights - RAICES

Through our new Unity Miles initiative, we partnered with Drunk Yoga and EVEN Hotels Midtown East to do a charity Art Run event to benefit RAICES, the Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services. RAICES defends the rights of immigrants and refugees, empowers individuals, families and communities, and advocates for liberty and justice by offering free and low-cost legal services and other resources for immigrants and refugees.

Environmental Protection - Greenpoint Innovations

Another issue we can get behind is environmental protection and advocacy. Runstreet was pleased to partner with Greenpoint Innovations for our Going Green Art Run in March. Greenpoint Innovations, based in Brooklyn, is a purpose-led company that leverages drone and video technologies, the arts, and in-depth subject matter expertise to contribute to a sustainable, resilient, and prosperous future. Check out the amazing new art and environment initiative that Greenpoint Innovations has launched, Greenpoint EARTH (GPE), an initiative that will serve as the company’s creative hub for ‘art plus purpose’ projects to raise awareness about climate change and nature-based solutions.

Community Art - Pilsen Arts & Community House

Without Art, we wouldn’t be here, and our runs would be so much less than what they are. In addition to promoting local artists and galleries, we were happy to donate a percent of ticket sales from our Chicago Daydream event to Pilsen Arts and Community House, a project of local Chicago Gallery Pilsen Outpost. Pilsen Outpost is a beautiful gallery in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood that offers lots of community and art events and promotes a strong local identity and pride. Pilsen Outpost and the Artist Family in and around the community have come together to create "Pilsen Arts & Community House," P.A.C.H. This non-profit organization will focus on providing space, resources, and creative opportunities for the Pilsen community.

In honor of Giving Tuesday, we encourage you to support any of our partner charities in their amazing endeavors, and we also thank you for your support of Runstreet and our events. We also thank our lead photographer, Marques Jackson, for donating his time and services to photograph our charity events.

Happy holidays to all!
